Take that -- out and the title has a whole different meaning...

From the post:

>Property owners and landlords in New York City can now be fined $25 or more if residents are found throwing a banana peel in the trash. As of April 1, all New Yorkers must separate organic waste that includes food scraps, food-soiled paper (like empty pizza boxes), and leaf and yard waste from the rest of their trash, similar to how metal, glass, paper, and plastic is set aside for recycling.

Ok, make it easier for rats to find the food and have their numbers explode even more than they are now. Roaches too. Also, homeless people can now easily find a meal.

Actually, you make a very good point here.

Also, what the fuck are they saying about the "methane release in landfills". Right, so it will just be released in composting facilities instead? Unless they have a collection system to compress it for other use or to burn it I don't see the difference.

If they had any brains, it would be collected and used to heat homes, generate energy or anything else a bit of combustion is good for.

Why give up on "free gas". Burn that and turn it into energy, even on a micro scale. Why not?

The whole city looks like a compost heap anymore. What’s a few more apple cores and banana peels on the sidewalk?
