What did they get right?

What did they get right?

In the 70s we thought there would be moon bases and people living there.

And I remember in the 80s telling my dad that writing homework on paper was dumb and that in the near future we'd just type our homework in to a computer and it would be electronically sent to the teacher.

My dad scoffed at the idea and told me to do my homework.

I expected to set foot on the moon in my lifetime. I seriously doubt my great grandchildren will. Even if Musk got his army of robots to the moon and Mars surfaces at this very moment it would still be 10 to 15 years before any people are sent and I'll be way too old by then.

I expected the same.

Now I expect that my family and close friends will likely retreat to the semi-remote land we own and work on living away from other people.

It's really all pretty fucked up.

I just hope my kids and their kids can make it through the coming dark times.
