I saw it as a pretty based portrayal of female behavior, at least modern ones. They see all their value in physical beauty and only live in the present. Both versions of her are stupidly selfish and her own selfishness is then turned against her and her lack of being able to take accountability or face reality of aging leads to her own destruction.
