Common misconception, I have stuff from the late 70s that still shows good picture and sound. The professionally mastered high quality tapes will last forever, the shit bi-metal tapes people would buy to record things were shit. Also depends on the player used throughout the tapes life.

They didn't name themselves Soylent Green, but like the previous products in the movie after soy & lentil. Their idea is also the same, provide a simple "meal" with just the nutrition a human body needs.
