What else would you recommend? I’d like to see if I missed something. I have King Rat in Hardback. I’ll read it again, it’s been enough years in between to read it again.
Edit: side note - reading that book made me both proud of and shamed of being an American. Amazing book.
Although it's not a novel & if you're interested in the topic, I'd first recommend the non-fiction "Prisoners of the Japanese" by Gavan Daws. A ripping read I almost couldn't put down.
I read a book a while ago. It was about an Eskimo who joined the USAAF and was a B-29 crewmember. His ship was shot down over Japan. A terrible place for anybody not Japanese. It’s a great book but the ending is horrible. I’m looking for it but can’t find it. My apologies.
