Racing history is just full of teams creatively interpreting this race season's guidelines and yeah there's some outright cheating too. Nascar is notorious for it.

looked more like they sharpened it somehow lol. Check out subaru's ALS they deployed on their rally machines in years back. In order to prevent the turbo from lagging to badly coming out of turns and features that they literally just built a rocket engine in the exhaust system that tied back into the engine. Reduced rpms would set it off w/ the explosions somehow creating this situation in the engine that keeps the turbo from bogging down. I'm not entirely clear on how it worked, but i read about it years ago.
