Finally going to address Coldwater Creek and Westlake landfill in St. Louis and additional stuff around Weldon Springs in St. Charles perhaps? Bring it - they're all a mess. They "remediated" Weldon Springs 30 years ago, but there is still radiologic waste in ditches along several letter routes out in the area. Some in Busch Wildlife area too.

Did some design work on Rte. 94 for MoDOT around 2010. They bid it in combo with a project they did in-house - both in the vicinity of the Weldon Springs site. We coordinated on specifications, and their project basically had a big blank spot in the middle where DOE contractors were going to come in, hog out about 500 feet of roadbed, ditches and culverts, ship it off to who knows where and then construct enough clean embankment that MoDOT's contractor could then safely complete the work.

Got to sit in on the preconstruction conference. DOE representative in attendance ignored the few questions about disposition of the material that were asked. Need to know basis and no one there needed to know apparently. Ever seen the Weldon Springs site? Google Earth it sometime, then look at the drive-by pics. Massive pile of rock now.

Grew up in north county not far from Coldwater Creek. Dad used to play softball on the company team till the fields were shut down after they discovered contamination. It was nothing to see huge chunks of unoccupied land fenced off with biohazard signs. Always so careful to never use words like nuclear or radioactive/radiation. I really wonder if some of the problems my father and I have are due to this, not to mention my own children.
