I was just thinking of my time there and I was remembering how it overall felt more like Arkansas than it did any other Midwestern state.

It depends on which part of the state. Everything along hwy 70 consider themselves Midwestern. Everything lower consider themselves Southern. Missouri was split during the civil war. Half Yankee, half rebel. I'm originally from the bootheel. We consider ourselves Southern rednecks in those parts. It's all farmland.

i would still classify missouri as the south. until you get to st. louis. holy hell, there is alot of gang banging going on there.... anything past branson is yankee territory and should be destroyed with fire.

Neither. I'm a New Englander. Y'all.

I drove through part of Missouri during a trip to Arizona in 2001. It was night time, thunder storms raging and tornado warnings on the radio. Couldn't see shit, whether I was driving into a twister or away from them all. Nervous as hell, alone, really didn't want to be there. I never felt so out of my realm.

Every time I drive through Missouri some bullshit happens. Weather usually. That’s why I call it misery. Some parts are pretty though.

I was "this close" to being terrified that night. I'd still love to see the state in the daylight! I'd really like to see Cape Girardeau, Rush Limbaugh's childhood home town. That would be very special to me.

I grew up in a small town about 10 mins outside of Cape Girardeau. There's lots of old architecture near the river, but sadly large portions of Cape are becoming a ghetto due to all the niggers moving out of St Louis. I haven't lived in the area in about 2 decades, but that area will always be home on some level. There's shootings every weekend these days.

It’s more southern than midwestern for sure.

I always think of it as Southern because of Quantrill, Bloody Bill Anderson, and the many other Missouri Bushwackers such as Frank and Jesse James that kicked some Federal ass pretty good.

It was a mixed bag then and it still is today, but niggers, jews and blue belly yanks be damned it’s inner heart is southern all the way,

Here we go with misshapen square identity politics again...

Just be normal and create imaginary conflicts and fights in your head like every else.

I identify as a Westerner, I've spent most of my life in CA/AZ

As someone from Arkansas, they are NOT considered the South. I think the line may be somewhere in Arkansas though.
