I object to it being automated. It should remain a rite of passage performed by the young man coming of age. Registration for the Draft was also the reason the National Organization of Women self-destructed. The idea that their daughters, or they themselves, would be obliged to give up even part of their lives in service to the nation was such an anathema to them that they destroyed the legitimacy of the organization to bring an end to the Equal Rights Amendment.
