They did this in the 90s when i was in, got through sniper school and all that good jazz and Gen. Krulack got in charge and disbanded the Scout sniper platoons. Shit was a joke, put us back in the line platoons with the regular 03's. We had all our rooms next to one another and we pretty much were detached from the "platoon" unless we had company formation or company P.T. It didnt last long though 3 or 4 years until 9/11. Then we were a platoon again. We still did our range time, and we would get our training with the rest of the line platoons and would be inserted during training ops and the fun stuff. Good times though really.
