How well do they have to shoot at 500 to qualify? And with what equipment?
Iron sites, 7 out of 10 if you did well at the 200 and 300. It's man-sized targets... at least that's how it was when I was in. Most Marines can hit it 10 for 10 if you've had time with that particular rifle.
Man sized targets no sweat. Im assuming they get to shoot prone?
Assuming it's the same as when I was in, and my memory is accurate, yes. I think the 200 had sitting, standing and prone?
EDIT: Looks like shit has changed: https://hooktube.com/watch?v=kNLwncz0BM8
If I remember correctly I think you have to score a 175 out of 250 to Qual with the m16a2 at boot. White area was 5 points black area was 10. 50 rounds total and I think you shot 20 rounds standing and kneeling at the 100 sitting and kneeling at 200 5 rounds sitting at the 300 and 5 riunds at the 500 prone.
A lot of guys think theyre great shots but all they ever do is shoot off a bench, or maybe prone. Never offhand or sitting etc. I practice shitty things like that because somehow whenever im hunting, i cant find a shooting bench laying around. Always end up shooting offhand or sitting or leaning against a tree or some shit in the real world.
