I have a 10G network at home. I have been running my own email server for years (yeah, I must hate myself). I run my own web servers/database servers/etc.

I run a VM Cluster at home for various services and have some Raspberry PI's sitting around doing various stuff. I must be slightly insane to work all day in tech just to do this even more at home.

I do like to garden though. I just need a lot more space so I can build what I want and have some year-round growing space that is more than just my tiny indoor hydroponic system.

You are just like me, a tech sadist. When the wifey came along she made me get rid of some of the stuff but I am glad I did because that freed up room for more stuff. I've had this keyboard fetish for awhile and I am still on the quest for the perfect keyboard.

I try to go by the "Wife acceptance factor" (WAF). If it also improves her life and makes it easier, she is more than happy to have it around and even will use it and ask for it to do more things (like the Home Assistant).

Some things I do just to do and for the hell of it. However, I have things like a self-hosted remote support system sort of like log-me-in to help friends and family. It keeps me from having to spend time at family's/friends houses helping them fix their stuff since they are not as techie.

It all has benefits but some of it is annoying sometimes or is not working properly. I self host DNS as well as ad-blocking on the network level. It can block things you want to go to sometimes but mostly works and my Wife knows how to disable or white-list a site now.

As for keyboards, I do have preferences but not nearly as specific. I currently have a setup that I like with MX-Brown's and it works for me. I might prefer something more clicky but I think that might drive my Wife insane even though I have converted her (willingly) to a mechanical keyboard as well.

WAF is a good acronym. I am totally stealing that. I had my own mini-server farm with email, web hosting, etc but I got tired of it. Now I am running some DMZ services but just for me and I have a few different email providers I use. AWS isn't a bad deal. It's not like the 5 eyes fucks couldn't see my shit before I moved some to AWS.

I am rocking a M0115 Apple Enhanced Keyboard with a tinkboy adb to usb connector. Easy to remap keys. But still it's not perfect. I am starting to think what I want doesn't exist.
