Probably for the best- irony is non-hearing impaired folks (kids) could buy super-high output earphones and deafen themselves. Sealing your ear canals to ‘phones is fuckin something.

My gramps and stepdad are both quite deaf, and have reeeal pricey hearing aids. They are dissatisfied with em, but they insist on the smallest ones available. Cannot put enough processing chips in the tiny in-ear devices. So it’s just louder, with frequency equalization and gain manipulation, “companding” (quiet is quieter, loud is quieter). I am not an audiologist, but an audio professional. I always wish I could help them, but it’s only what they can communicate to their hearing aid technician, which seems to be shit.

So, if these go consumer whatever, they’d have an app on the phone to adjust basic processing; perhaps presets for environments.

Hold my beer (ahhh it’s empty), gonna go make a bunch of money.

We endured a blasting television for years because we couldn't afford a hearing aid for aging parents. Now lets see them make something for people living with tinnitus.

Damn that sucks. Can’t remember what supposed fix(es) for tinnitus exist, but there’s some dodgy/ holistic ideas. I figure I must have worked around 800 live shows by this point, luckily and with decent but not great care with earplugs/ muffs I have no tinnitus nor serious hearing loss.

You are blessed. Always always protect your ears.
