Of time it literally would have melted through the flesh through the fat in his abdomen and into his muscles. You simply can't do that. flesh is not a re-entry tile on the space shuttle. What appears to me that really is are very cold irons probably put in dry ice. That's why you see condensation coming off of them and they're sort of a white grayish color instead of being red hot.
