And all those that had this bullshit pushed on them largely consider this a massive failure.

The real reason for the release was to switch from real mode to protected mode and to give developers a "hold over" OS that would allow both before later releases.

The TLDR for what that is for non-programmers/nerds its basically related to memory protection. That's the very, very, simple version.

From the post:

>Windows Millenium Edition, or Windows Me or Windows ME, was released June 19, 2000. It was the successor to Windows 98 SE and Microsoft’s least successful operating system since the late 1980s. It was Microsoft’s last operating system based on MS-DOS.

I forgot about the abortion that was Vista.

Yeah, that's accurate. Most people never even knew ME/Vista existed. Hell, some people don't even remember the POS that "Windows 8" was.

It's funny because Windows 11 gives me Windows 8 vibes in how shitty it is (when you are forced to use it). Fucking jeet's ruin everything. I mean, windows has always sucked but now it just sucks more.

8 was such a piece of shit. That constant flipping between screens reminds me of using Bank Street Writer on a C64 where you had to flip between write and edit modes.
