The CPU cut off is not arbertery. Those are the oldest CPUs that support TPM 2.0, another piece of garbage M$ had their hand in making. TPM allows your PC to be traced on the internet, regardless of what countermeasures you take.

I hate TPM. The (((tech industry))) have been pushing pure shit that only benefits them onto the hardware for a long time now.

I really can't put off linux any longer can I.

According to OP, linux or windows won't save you because TPM is at a layer below the OS. And no matter, per @robertjharsh, what you do then you'll never be safe from.

I'd like to see evidence of that assertion.

There's a difference between watermarks, which can be bypassed easily, and assertions of tracking at a hardware layer.

Get Windows 11, it's the most KOSHER VERSION of Winblows ever!

More and more there is a trend in software companies to take away the freedom of the buyer to choose how he uses the software, and to force him to do what the software maker wants him to do. It's unfortunate, but it will drive more traffic to Linux, which in the end may make it a good trend.
