Never trust "someone elses computer". Also, the vast centralization of the internet that has been happening over the last 20 years is the exact opposite of what was intended. It is fucking insanity.

I need to get my old website(s) and new one(s) online again...

I have come to believe that warning people about anything is a complete waste of time in the vast majority of cases.

, can you please move this to ? It is a website and not a meme image and does not comply to this sub's rules and would be better fit in that sub.

[–] 3 pts

Did I post that in memes? I could have sworn I picked this sub, but I guess stupid does.

Not a problem. Thank you for moving this to where it was intended to be posted at, !

His comments echo those made last week by Larry Ellison, the founder of Oracle, who criticised the rash of cloud computing announcements as "fashion-driven" and "complete gibberish".

Fuck Ellison. We have to migrate to a full Ansible platform now at work in order to maintain compliance, because their Oracle Linux Manager is now cloud based, and we can't support that. He has always been a shithead.

Trading sovereignty for convenience.

you cant even trust your own computer,

if you really want something to be saved keep it on a flash drive burn it to a disk put it on a memory card and keep it out of the computer

Backup Tapes are know to last much longer than flash devices (data retention), if properly stored.

yes, i know all of the digital storage devices have time limitations. they really should be backed up to a new device once every year or two. Even then, there is data loss.

How do you think might be the best way to preserve digital memories for the longest?

3D crystals, but we haven’t invented that technology yet.
