At this point, anything that the MSM publishes that is actually real, about any subject, is likely to be just a coincidence. They lie, all the time, and they always have. It wasn't "better in the old days", it was just that you trusted them and had significantly less means to find out that they are lying.
Perhaps you might get some honest journalism from a small town local newspaper reporting on local subjects, because any lies they printed would be quickly known and their reputation in the local community destroyed, after which they are fucked. It's quite refreshing sometimes to go and read news articles from ~100 years ago in a small news paper. When my grandfather turned 90, we found and printed a copy of the local paper from the day he was born. The articles in there were interesting and factual, one about a boy who was accidentally shot because someone left a loaded rifle in the back of a wagon, another admonishing a proposal by wealthier residents to provide loans to the council to fund road construction near their homes, it was pointed out that if this was allowed to occur, the entire budget of the council would be tied up in repaying these loans and no other, more necessary road works would get done. But, even in those times, the news from further afield would be just as much propaganda as it is today.
That old saying "a broken clock is right twice a day" applies to the media.
