Here's a quick project to improve my recently acquired vintage (the motor has a 1990 plaque on it) horizontal bandsaw. This saw is an original Rong Fu RF-115 which is the base model from which almost all current 6x4" horizontal bandsaws are a copy. So, this modification could be done on any of the newer copies.

The purpose of this is to provide a hard stop for the cut angle at 90deg to the blade so that when I adjust it for an angle cut, I can quickly return it to 90deg without needing to get out the precision square again.

When I was forging the handle twists for my toolmaker's clamps, I chucked in a small bit of 25x10 bar and bent over one end to form the bulk shape of the part. https://pic8.co/sh/tkY0DR.jpg

This was cleaned up in the mill by flattening the bottom on some sand paper until it was flat enough to clamp on, then each side was cleaned up. Then the part was held by the sides and the bottom skimmed to ensure it was properly flat. None of this was entirely necessary though. https://pic8.co/sh/K5bbFB.jpg

A strip of the base was milled away 5mm deep, to give clearance for the table casting. The corner of this was made round by side milling it to create a 5mm radius. Two mounting holes were drilled and countersunk to take M6 countersunk screws. Still need to figure out the best speed to run that countersink bit at, there's a fair bit of chatter still. https://pic8.co/sh/EBOkpj.jpg

Mounted onto the table, two M6 set screws are used to adjust the stop. The first one is used to dial in the position, then a second set screw is tightened behind it to lock it in place and stop the adjustment vibrating off. https://pic8.co/sh/GL8l6n.jpg
