Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge has collapsed into the water, causing a “developing mass casualty event” after a ship collided with it early on Tuesday morning.
At about 1.30am local time a large container ship slammed into one of the pillars of the 1.6-mile bridge, sending construction workers and multiple vehicles into the water below. The 300m Singapore-flagged Dali burst into flames and is listing. Fire rescue teams and divers are searching the area for survivors amid a large diesel spill.
