Steam's proton + Sandfall + Linux devs have made it so this game runs natively, no weird things need to be done with anything outside of letting steam set things up automatically.
THE SINGLE area I had to modify was adding a Game.ini file to the pseudo windows AppData folder to make it so the game recognized my PS4 controller and uses PS5 icons rather than keyboard / mouse icons.
The icons weren't even necessary, just made it so it was easier to learn and follow along rather than having it show keyboard shortcuts while using a controller - yes the controller worked but showed keyboard labels.
