That price tag. Good Lord.

“I want to play retro games.”

“Well, you could go grab an old NUC at a used computer shop for $100, or you could give this company $500 for basically the same thing.”

“Shut up and take my money!”

I never understood that. Aside from a few controllers I haven't paid a dime to play retro games. Everything is free. Emulators and roms.

What's worse is, from what I gather, few to none of them work excellent right out of the box, even if you spend all that money.

I managed to get the emulator (stella I think) on the physically Wii hardware but the controllers don't work right. I have NES, Sega, and atari controllers with a USB connector on the end. That's all you need. Just use the emulators on the PC and be done with it.

Usually I get a itch to play a couple of Atari games, I play it, and then I don't bother again for several months.

I like the shell design and the overall simplicity of their approach. I'm tech savvy enough to put something similar together for less money. This is aimed at people who are not.

Why bother with the cheap one. Just sell the 8600G.
