I installed the latest Gnome and it’s a fucking joke.

Why do you have to click on the top right “button” to get the dock? It’s like it was made for faggot dweeb gamers in their mom’s basement.

Personally I like budgie as it simple, hides most shit behind one click and had a doc for the 3-4 things you use daily.

The other flavors polled into devaun are too much like windows 95, or in reality puppy Linux fuck maybe the original Macintosh look. Light weight doesn’t have to be block icons and everything just chincy. Cinnamon is too heavy and is not easily configurable.

I don’t use any of it for daily driver, but I am to the point that I want a gui on the server for some things, mainly because I’m getting fucking lazy. I used ainto speed ramp testing and copy and paste from the local gui is more efficient and I don’t have to ssh for everything. Although I use it after the fact.

I also test web instances locally, and on one server I distribute hdmi video stream of rotational information screens for a common feed in the house. Local weather forecast, weather radar, outlook, local chamber of commerce, calendar (snapshot), and fake folio sheet for guests, “hotel logo” type shit you see at the Hilton.

I don’t promox because I’ve moved to no systemd. I consider running it for just testing, but it’s almost as easy to just run in bare metal since the systems are not hard to sit in front of.

Never the less, I’m still looking for a budgie type interface that is clean, modern, has a doc and can put the task bar at the top without adding a new and fucking rebuilding from scratch eg; properties location top/bottom.

Yeah I could install plank. But again more shit I have to do. Yeah I could script, but it’s nice to have an os that honors a forward thought path for gui design across upgrades and not spraying shit on.

I’d love to hear input. I’ve tried mate, cinnamon, gnome modern, xcfe xcfx or what ever that was, all the flavors that devaun roll into the big iso. Budgie is a no go it’s too fucking hard to get it running.

So I’ll listen to anything, but no systemd is my path forward.
