The bin and sbin merge in Fedora is interesting. I didn’t even know that the duplicate root level directories had already been merged into their /usr equivalents.
The short version is all commands and static software files go under /usr now. All commands other than games go in /usr/bin. The root level symlinks may stick around forever, but we should all start using /usr exclusively.
The bin and sbin merge is starting with Fedora, but other distros will probably follow like they did with the /usr merge.
