It's known as "word salad", and it's done in this case in an attempt to sound educated, to then therefore proclaim that they are superior to others. I've always been of the opinion that if you can't explain something technical to a lay-person and have them at least somewhat understand the topic, you're not intelligent. Using big words just to sound intelligent is the realm of someone who has no fucking clue what they're talking about (plus they're insufferable cunts to boot).
