For the charges she was up on: Involuntary Manslaughter, 18 months is the maximum sentence. The Violent offender designation controls how much time off for "good behavior" she can earn. A normal (non-violent) offender can earn 30 days off their sentence per month (effectively halving it) for good behavior. An inmate with a violent offender designation can only earn 4 days per month. So, the judge gave her effectively the harshest sentence possible under the changes. Will be interesting to see if she is called as a witness in Baldwin's trial.
