I don’t really understand their mindset but holding completely contradictory beliefs doesn’t seem to be something that bothers them in the slightest. Maybe they’re morons, maybe Orwell was correct about the doublethink thing, or maybe they really don’t give a fuck about things like consistency so long as they can wield power over anyone who resists their bullshit. Whatever it is, I’ve found it better to accept their inconsistency as just one of those things than to annoy yourself trying to poke holes in Swiss cheese positions when the holders of those positions simply don’t care about the holes.
