Some businesses are stupidly wasteful. I worked at a place once that sold power strips but they were out-of-box (addon to a more expensive product). Every power strip came with a 6' extension cable, a 4' coax cable and a ~10ft phone cable. They threw them away. I started to get them to save at least the extension cables and probably ended up with hundreds of them. Gave them away to friends, donated them, etc... These days, I could have recycled them for the copper and probably made more than they were paying me per hour. One of the many, many stupid things that business did.
