We used to own a Dairy Queen and our buttercream for ice cream cakes came in them. I collected them for such purposes. Ask a Dairy Queen, they usually toss out the empty ones.
That blows my mind. That is just so much freaking waste for something that could be reused or repurposed.
I agree. I tried to reuse many things that would have otherwise been tossed. Many times working with dairy if not cleaned properly the stench can be very foul. Those buckets have multi purposes. I have 2 in use now for compost.
Some businesses are stupidly wasteful. I worked at a place once that sold power strips but they were out-of-box (addon to a more expensive product). Every power strip came with a 6' extension cable, a 4' coax cable and a ~10ft phone cable. They threw them away.
I started to get them to save at least the extension cables and probably ended up with hundreds of them. Gave them away to friends, donated them, etc... These days, I could have recycled them for the copper and probably made more than they were paying me per hour. One of the many, many stupid things that business did.
