There is a few mushrooms growing in a couple potted pepper plants, this is the most that any have. I have noticed fungus before but not a full on headed mushroom. Is this detrimental or beneficial?

Almost certainly beneficial. Plants live in symbiotic relationship with fungi, soil bacteria and other organisms like nematodes. The roots of the plants exude sugars that the fungi use and in return they supply the plants with nutrients that are accessible to them. A good balance between fungi and bacteria in the soil is ideal. You probably have some wood in your compost soil, which the fungi will be living off.

Makes sense, so long as it's not on the plant, leaves and stems, itself, correct?
