Picked a few mostly ripe tomatoes, still had specks of green. Went good on the chicken sandwiches we had for dinner.

Nice haul! What variety are they?

It's called better boy, heirloom.

Tomatoes are far and away my favorite food. I want them. Looks great!

Thank you. I wouldn't call them my favorite, but they're up there on my wife's list.

Jersey, for all its faults, grows the best tomatoes in the world.

I've never looked into it. Is it the weather that's more favorable?

In the area where I used to live, it was the fallout of cooking 200 years of fish. A little-known side benefit of living next to a fish factory. Greatest tomatoes in the world.

The fish factory processed mossbunker. Menhaden, for you faggots. 3 times a week for 200 years, the local plant would process fish. They made fertilizer and cat food. There were 350,000 stray cats that used to live outside the chain link fence.

I used to feed the strays until one of them ripped a ham sandwich out of my hand and instantly sliced my finger to the bone with its razor sharp claws. While my blood was spurting, I instantly turned on them. You should have seen 350,000 cats scattering in all directions once they got my ire.

That makes sense, gotta love soil that's pre-fertilized, side effects of cats, not so much. Ouch, cats can't be trusted. Did they keep coming around you any?

Those look beautiful! I love eating them when they are still warm from the vine. I have a tough time growing tomatoes where I live. My yard has too many trees and deer. Nice haul for sure!

Thank you. I can't eat them alone, they have to be in something. My wife on the other hand will eat them like an apple. What about a fence to keep deer out?

I have a used a fence in the past and it has helped. There is just too much shade from the trees. They never grow as plump. I might get 1 or 2 edible ones. I love tomatoes and have taken an interest in canning. I planted some unused ginger roots in one of my beds and they seem to be thriving. I have never grown them before so I will wait and see what they produce. God Bless brother!

I don't know why I didn't think of the trees blocking the sun, my first thought was the roots, long day. Can't wait to see pics of ginger root!! Good luck brother! God is good!

I am very jealous, I am probably at least a month or month and a half away from that.

I was surprised these came in so quick. Had a couple that were mushy and had to throw away last week.

That is crazy. I did starters in my hydro system and moved them to pots on Sunday. I'm letting them get used to soil still but tomorrow ill start putting them outside for a little bit to get used to the sun/wind/weather/etc. After about a week of that they will just stay outside. I did this last year too but we got so much rain it stunted them and I didn't get a very good harvest. This year I am better prepared and have covers/nets/etc.

I am looking forward to it so much.

We've had some crazy rain the last few weeks. This is my first time growing anything. Have some peppers, okra, tomatoes and eggplant. I never knew I would enjoy it so much, plus, the Mrs is glad I found a "healthy" hobby.

I was going to ask if you started them in a greenhouse, because it is so early in the season. I'm in Texas and I still don't even have green fruit starting with nursery transplants.
