This is awesome. I need pictures.
I've got about two inches of soil and two inches of sand, with a bit of pebbles on the surface. I watched a guy go over which soil is acceptable and bought within his ranges. I have had the tank for a week now and I'm just now getting the clarity in the photo. It's been 24 hours now so I hope it stays. Do you have any filtration at all? I'm going to be looking into nicer plants and I am wondering if I messed up already by not having enough plants now.

As soon as a relearn how to remove EXIF data and shit, its been awhile since i've shared dic pics.

Yes! What i do is i take a powerhead pump and convert it into a sponge filter. Sponge filters don't have enough flow rate for me and i notice that my tanks with less flow rate have more issues, but the tanks with the most plants and my filter set up are just fine.

Thats the style (cylinder) sponge is use you can get them in various sizes. I get a medium sized one and attach that to the intake with a ziptie so that it has complete seal and can't suck up my shrimp. Then i take a small sponge and ziptie that to the exahaust but its a open tube, all it does it restrict the output as its too much until a pump get worn in.
How big is your tank? I would recommend purchasing x4 packs of stems plants for the rear of the tank and 1x-2x of the jungle val you have (or whatever val that is). Also for you foreground i would increase the dward sag or haigrass by planting it in groups of 3-5 bundles about 1/4 inch apart as it helps spread but trimming and high light will do that too.
(Stems: Bocopa, ludwiga, pogostemen, moneywort, scarlette temple, Things like this clean the water well and stems are easy to manage)
Your amazon sword will grow huge, and if thats a red flam swrod in the right or red melon it will get big too.
EDIT: USE AMANO SHRIMP FOR YOUR TANKS!
