They were trying to concoct something at the start of this year with the Dural terrorist hoax. Once it became clear that this was a hoax, the story was concocted that it was perpetrated by "organized criminals" to (somehow) get some sort of benefit... don't try to think of how a hoax bombing of synagogues might be of personal benefit to an organized crime figure though. They used this obvious hoax to push through draconian hate speech legislation. No doubt, this new incident, regardless of the reality of what happened, will be used to further crack down on the scintilla of freedoms that Australians still have.
