Brave is jewed.

They use a built-in driver to simulate a USB controller to silently access your connected devices.

Holy shit - THAT MAKES SENSE - I use brave and for quite a while, the windows USB disconnect/reconnect sound would randomly sound and I couldn't figure it out - Device manager didn't show any changes when it occurred and there were no strange/unknown devices, nor none of the devices I had connected would sleep or periodically disconnect.

Those fucking bastards.

macOS in a VM clearly exposes it.

Brave USB (pic8.co)

Damn. Is this normal browser behavior or something a dodgy browser would do - would it require permission like "can XYZ access your USB"?

Seriously? What’s the best browser?

I'm running them in a VM with a custom host file and no other data to access.

Is it something to do with their built in VPN stuff (which can break networking) or something? Man, that just pisses me off. Going to have to either stop using brave or jail it in a VM like you are doing.

Everything is so fucked these days.
