There're pictures from the 1920s of thousands of KKK marching through DC. The surprising part was seeing how many were from Indiana and Illinois. That was right around the time *Birth of a Nation* (silent film) was widely seen. It showed the KKK as the good guys. Think there's any connection with the sudden growth they had in membership?
