There're pictures from the 1920s of thousands of KKK marching through DC. The surprising part was seeing how many were from Indiana and Illinois. That was right around the time Birth of a Nation (silent film) was widely seen. It showed the KKK as the good guys. Think there's any connection with the sudden growth they had in membership? The Klan started being demonized about 10 years later.
