Too bad they follow the Netflix adaptation of the Torah, known as the Talmud. Because they were too proud to admit they couldn’t obey the Torah. Not to mention, the Torah was, as a contract, rendered fulfilled when Israel executed Christ. Basically, the Torah was established as a curse. Israel, as a people, rejected God’s offer of a personal relationship at Sinai, opting instead for a system of merit and an impersonal and transactional relationship. God obliged them, giving the Law with the stipulation that if any part wasn’t followed, the whole thing wasn’t being followed. Additionally, it had to be followed in Spirit and in Truth, meaning not just externally, but internally. They didn’t, because they couldn’t. This is why Christ came, to fulfill the Law of Moses. Then, after living a perfect life, fulfilling the Law and the words of the Prophets, Christ was executed by hanging on a tree. In so doing, He was accursed, according to the Law, and thereby created the loophole by which any sin ever could be put upon His shoulders, with Him becoming “sin on our behalf.” When He died, He fulfilled the requirement of execution and spiritual death (separation from God), and when He rose again to live eternally, He granted us the opportunity to also rise again, so long as we identified with Him in His death. This means we can be spiritually joined to Him by way of acknowledging both our need for saving, as well as His capacity and works having done so (our acknowledgment being a non-meritorious act, similar to admitting guilt in the face of insurmountable evidence). The Talmud was invented as a method of creating a system of watered down legalese, whereby they could claim to follow the “letter” of the Law, as interpreted to suit their interests. They also added their own clauses to promote unabashed and unwarranted “superiority,” not based on their obedience to God, which was negligible even at the best of times, but as a matter of their “heritage.” However, as Paul said, “not all who are descendants are sons,” and the followers of the Talmud, along with any who deny Christ subsequent to his incarnation, death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and session, are still held to account because they have not had their legal identity altered to that of a dead and perfect man, instead opting to “plead not guilty” to the crime of breaking the whole Law. So, no, silly rabbi, not only was the Law a cosmic prank played upon you for your hubris, you doubled down and even went on to invent your own hackneyed inbred version of “law,” that is as legitimate as equating a gold medal at the Special Olympics with that of one from the actual Olympics.
