It's a partial con. Crack houses in the US have more liviablity than the $1 homes in Europe. You seriously might be buying a chunk of land with one standing wall but then you get hit with a tax bill next year.

I started reading about those after I made that comment. The possibility that you can do this seems to be somewhere between impossible and don’t even try.
It's hard to find real info on actual experiences because the media is part fact and advertising. A lot of the trending trash videos I saw were showing video of people in busy cities and restaurants nowhere near the shithole you'd be purchasing. ZERO mentioned any immigration requirements, required liquidity, local housing laws, HOAs, or construction permit requirements. I can't find one that has a person saying "this was a massive fuckup and never should have done this". I want to hear from that person because that person will put out a detailed report of exactly what happened.
