They have a slow pace of life, and some of those $1 houses have been vacant for decades, so it isn't a big stretch of the imagination for them to have the patience of a carnivorous plant.

It's a partial con. Crack houses in the US have more liviablity than the $1 homes in Europe. You seriously might be buying a chunk of land with one standing wall but then you get hit with a tax bill next year.

I started reading about those after I made that comment. The possibility that you can do this seems to be somewhere between impossible and don’t even try.
