Right, because that was something I ever wanted. Even if you buy a "smart tv". The only time to allow it to connect is if you NEED a firmware/os update.

Otherwise keep that shit offline and use a PC for your streaming. Its cheap, it works better, you can block all of the ads, tracking and bullshit.. etc.

From the post:

>Microsoft’s Copilot AI assistant is officially coming to TVs, starting with Samsung’s 2025 lineup of TVs and smart monitors. With the integration, you can call upon Copilot and ask for movie suggestions, spoiler-free episode recaps, and other general questions. On TV, Copilot takes on a “friendly, animated presence” that resembles the opalescent Copilot Appearance Microsoft showed off last month, though in a color that makes it look more like a personified chickpea. The beige blob will float and bounce around your screen, while its mouth moves in line with its responses.

Clippy only wanted to help you. Copilot wants to send everything to Microsoft

If you never connect it, why would you need a firmware/OS update?

Sometimes (often) shit is shipped with broken or barely working features since they fix it in software a lot now so long as the hardware can handle it.

I have a really old Blu-ray player I occasionally connect to update the firmware or it can't play some disks. It's not often and I only do it if it doesn't work and I don't want to spend the time to rip and convert before watching. It happens though.

I've not had a problem with new stuff not working on original release software. Now I wonder if I'm doing something wrong...

Look it up before you connect it. Some companies do shady shit that could brick the whole damn thing if it's not connected to the Internet.
