It's pretty interesting to see all this old stuff still being maintained. I used to read a lot of different topics on this forum years ago, but it's database crashed and the owner just stuck it in read-only mode.

The owner is an early Internet pioneer, but is still actively posting things: https://philip.greenspun.com/blog/

Guy's a complete faggot, unfortunately.

I was working at CompUSA in 1999. I quit on Dec 31 1999 because there was no fucking way I was gonna be in a computer store on Y2K.

Side note: old friend of mine was working graveyard at a CVS on New years night 2000. For like 4 hours after midnight, every customer who came in he told them that the registers wouldn't work cause of y2k. Made everyone pay in cash with no change. Said he took home like a free 20 bucks from it. Fucked up, but funny.

Yeah, I don't blame you. Have any of the "Remember to turn your computers off!" stickers?

Your friend sounds like he had a good future in finance.

Throughout all my moves, I've lost almost everything I own. I DID have one, as well as some really nice pentium 3 branded gel pens.

haven't spoken to him in years. Last I heard he was developing schizophrenia, sadly.

Finance, schizophrenia....sometimes the same thing and/or necessary for being in finance.
