The internet, apps, games, etc. are unbearable without stout Ad blocking and filtering.

One thing not mentioned much is the forced need for newer hardware if you can’t block ads. I keep my electronics going for ages and they’re fine but if my phone/laptop/desktop couldn’t filter ads I’d need a lot more horsepower.

Also, something like 70%+ of bandwidth is consumed by ads

Ads are also the #1 malware vector in the entire world.

No doubt, when too big to exist corporations want to introduce a new feature, it's certain to be bad for consumers.

I think may of us remember the caution that any click on a banner or ad was a "Risky Click" My initial desire to block ads began there, it remains there. honestly, this is where in a free enterprise capitalistic system, the govt over-site steps in (or is supposed to) the companies that provide browsers for the internet (a place for free information distribution) should not also be in the business of selling advertising. This is a clear conflict of interest and is begging for intervention. But alas I may be to idealistic to believe that our govt would step in to stop this when the companies can just buy them out.
