I was watching a video a while ago and she had a tip for using your time well and fulfilling your goals. It was write your top 5 goals down then really think about how you choose to use your time. Basically are the actions or activity you are doing helping you in some way to meet your goals? If the answer is no, you might want to use your time doing something else that will.

Doesn't this sort of presuppose that I have goals to begin with?

Pretty sure that "crippling alcoholism, then death" is more of a summary.

Yes it does presume you have goals.

First step make goals. Step two think about if your actions reflect them.

Oh, I'm not calling into question your advice. I had goals, back when I was a younger and more rogueishly attractive version of myself.

Thing is, I then went on to accomplish all of them. Now all that's left are things which either really aren't my problem, or that are way outside of my ability to meaningfully address. Sure, I could catch a flight home, get myself a knife, and start shivving commies, but there's simply too many of them to get through and they'd probably breed too quickly to make that a viable course of action.

I'm a decade away from formal, state-sanctioned retirement - which means that I endure less than ten more years of this crap and then I get out. I get to walk into the desert and this horrible world gets to go pound sand down a rathole.

Until then, I continue to supply grey-market arms and ammunition to the willing, as well as scorn and invective to the stupid.

Right now my goals are a survival ranch.

80 hours a week is helping me do that. Balancing physical and spiritual goals is tough but a work in progress

So yes then.
The point is to not waste time doing things that don't move you where you want to be.

Decalcify and you will be further than practically everyone.
