I lived in Illinois for a time back in the 70s. This isn't new, that state has been a POS for a very long time. I remember it being normal for us and pretty much everyone we knew to pay for groceries with credit cards. If you drive on I-80 from Iowa, without even looking you will know the instant you cross the state line. The highway turns to shit right at the line. That's what happens when organized crime and Marxist/leftists run your state for any appreciable amount of time.
