It'd be nice to be able to block/hide all porn subs without losing all the NSFW subs that aren't porn. I mean I still want to watch videos of people dying, but anime tiddies? Come on.

but there'll be another one soon.

You are talking/exaggerating like a politician now.

Most porn related subs here have been created by less than 5 accounts. It's easy to block them (and optionally their subs).

You make it sound like poal is filled with porn, which isn't at all.

There have been less than a dozen porn related posts on /all/new in the past 6 months, posted by the same account (that could easily be blocked as mentioned above).

There's a difference between projecting out a pattern and politician-style exaggeration. We know Poal is a growing site that allows free speech, and as such site grow they tend to attract an increasing amount of negative attention (often from people in little hats, but whatever). You yourself acknowledge porn is a weapon, so if we expect and prepare for a ramping up in other types of attack (political shilling, spam, drama creation, COINTELPRO techniques, DDOS, service-provider cancelling, etc), why not also porn?

We can also expect this site, as it grows, to experience similar patterns to similar sites such as Voat. I've blocked like 50 porn subs on Voat, and the only reason it's not more is because I use that site fairly infrequently now. Blocking all porn entirely (while still being able to view non-porn NSFW) is a futile effort like cutting off the head of a hydra.

And I will ask again.

Who will decide what gets tagged as porn?

Who will report it when someone ignores (or is oblivious about) the porn tag and will just use the NSFW one?
(porn spammers don't give a fuck about the welcome page of websites they target).

Giving a special treatment to porn by creating a specific category will attract more porn spam.

Next will be those who don't want to see subs they consider racist, then LGBTQWERTY, next Vegan...

You know what I mean.

Porn won't get a special treatment. It's part of the NSFW category.

Besides my other points, it seems a little defeatist to argue against making a rule because bad people won't follow it. Imagine if such argument were made against other things that are against the site rules, such as pedophilia, illegal content, or threats of violence.

I'll use illegal content for the example, but for a really visceral argument imagine someone defending pedo shit this way -- vile.

Who will decide what is illegal content?

Who will report it when someone ignores (or is oblivious about) the illegal content rule and will just post it anyway? (ciminals don't give a fuck about the welcome page of websites they target).

Users. First self-regulation, then via peers (report button, replies, PMs), then mods (replies, PMs, post deletion, user ban), then finally admins only if all of the previous steps fail.

Next will be those who don't want to see subs they consider racist, then LGBTQWERTY, next Vegan...

Yeah but you can say no to these requests based on lack of merit for them. (If they even occur, which I think is unlikely.)

Creating a blockable porn category would attract less porn because Schlomo has little way of knowing whether it's getting any views. (And if they don't figure it out, we've wasted Schlomo's time and sheckles, which is a noble achievement.)
