I can't block something based on flairs. The purpose of a PORN tag would be to allow users to block it without also blocking non-porn NSFW content.
True you can't but you don't see the thumbnails unless you are in the sub and you don't have to click it.
That's a fair point. But in the past month I've had to click the block button on (in order) /s/Hentai, /s/CelebNSFW, /s/Rule34, /s/Incest, /s/Cuckolc, /s/Cuckold. Hmm.. seems like a little escalation there.
All I'm saying is the tools for filtering out this content are a still little crude. I can either block anything marked NSFW for any reason, or I can allow all of it but have to continually block the ever-expanding variety of Jewish garbage that keeps coming up. Or block the user who is creating these subs, which eventually I did -- but invariably as the site grows there will be more accounts making more new porn subs on a daily basis (as on Voat).
Wouldn't it be nice if there was just a "block Jewish garbage" button? I think that would be a very user-friendly feature that would improve the site!
I'm only bringing this to your attention so you can get ahead of this before it becomes a more serious annoyance/deterrance to using the site.
I wanted to let you know I did read this and I'm still thinking on it.
So you are asking admins to enforce people to use a porn tag when they post porn.
What if they want to use the NSFW one, which is also fine for such content? Or do we have to enforce them not to use the NSFW tag when they post porn?
I would ask of other users to mark porn using PORN rather than NSFW -- we are distinguishing between those two types of content and the distinction is not very difficult.
As per the current NSFW rule, the admins would ultimately enforce content, but users and mods would be the first lines of defense via the report and downvote buttons and/or asking politely via comment or PM requests for the poster to tag correctly. As it currently stands, I can't imagine the admins have to step in a lot on missing NSFW tags, and I doubt it would be any different if a PORN designation were indicated.
This is not something that would create a lot of extra day-to-day work on your part. (Obviously coding it would be extra work, but the whole point of this sub is to suggest good features, and I think this would be an excellent one.)
We already have a fully working "block sub" feature that does the job well.
What would stop people from asking to have more categories based on things they want to filter out?
We have 2 categories for that reason. SFW (default) and NSFW (disabled).
