It'd be nice to be able to block/hide all porn subs without losing all the NSFW subs that aren't porn. I mean I still want to watch videos of people dying, but anime tiddies? Come on.

We already have a fully working "block sub" feature that does the job well.

What would stop people from asking to have more categories based on things they want to filter out?

We have 2 categories for that reason. SFW (default) and NSFW (disabled).

Whether people are going to ask for different categories to be created is irrelevant, since you the admins will ultimately decide what to do (or not do) based on the merit of the request. This request for a third category has a lot of merit as porn is a major and very distinguishable content type. It's also a vector for attack because, as we know, shills/bad actors/whatever will purposefully spam content that is distasteful in order to make the site tiresome for good faith users. The block button works in a pinch, but a "block all PORN" feature in user settings would be a much better solution.

I'll also point out that having two categories for content -- SFW and NSFW -- did not stop me for asking for a third to be created. ;-)

edit: well spam isn't even the right word. I remember with Hans the content was 'not quite spam' but definitely was an effective attempt to flood and demoralize

That's what the report button is for.

You are assuming that everybody posting porn or nudes will tag their posts as porn.

Hey man, the best accomplishment you guys have achieved on Poal is you make even the shills play by the rules (since they don't get to participate when they violate them). For that reason I think it's correct to assume everyone posting porn or nudes will tag it as such -- and they'll have the users to answer to if they don't (same as not properly tagging with NSFW).

If you're looking for an exit ramp to this conversation, all I need to hear is "I'll consider it." But please really do! I've suggested many a half-baked idea on this sub but this is not one of them.
