Who gets to decide what porn is and must be tagged as such?
The original poster? I, too, wouldn't mind an ability to differentiate. I have a giant TV that I use as a monitor and it makes life easier to manage if I don't have to worry about the family walking in on random hardcore porn.
NSFW thumbs aren't showing outside of the subs they are posted in for that reason.
Ah, but even without the thumbnail, you still get to see inspired titles like (temporarily unblocks a porn sub) "Your Daughter Knows You're Jerking Off...". And yeah, once you block it, you won't see any more titles from that sub, but there'll be another one soon.
Firstly, the posters/sub creators, but ultimately, the admins.
If I post porn without marking it NSFW either you or @PMYB2 are going to ask me to mark it NSFW or do it for me.
If I made a SFW sub for videos of people dying I'm pretty sure either you or @PMYB2 would ask me to make the sub NSFW or do it for me.
(edit: So in the event of unmarked PORN, it would be the same deal.)
The userbase in general can help police this with the report button (which I assume happens anyway in the event NSFW content is not properly tagged).
Yes but I am still not seeing how that creates a need for a specific tag for porn? The NSFW tag performs the function already. Beyond that if a user wanted something marked as porn they could use flairs to perform that function.
I can't block something based on flairs. The purpose of a PORN tag would be to allow users to block it without also blocking non-porn NSFW content.
