Spent many hours as a kid using one of those to cut tall grass and thistle on the farm. I do not remember that task favorably.
I didn't say I'd love it, though when gas goes even higher I'll still have a manicured lawn.
After doing a small patch about 100' x 50' I love it compared to my push mower. It's definitely slower by a lot, probably because of my lack of experience, though it's a lot more satisfying.
Do that for one hour and you'll never want to do it again.

This blade is a 26" grass blade, you could probably use it for wheat though.
Those guys can mow grass faster than a lawnmower. I've seen it
And can mow when it's wet, no problem at all. I want to get a scythe, but there are other tools I can much more justifiably get first.
far superior to a lawn mower. The grass isn't stressed out and grows back thicker (the roots do) because of it. You also don't have to cut it nearly as often...though it does take time.
