I run some of that software (RSS reader, bookmarks). I just use regular desktop software and backup my data.

Maybe he has to move between different machines a lot so he needs to keep everything he can online and accessible from anywhere.

I like that he uses Ansible. It’s one of the only things keeping everything from being Dockerized. We are so bad at automating setups that we pass bulky containers around instead of setup programs.
